Swarna Akarshana Bhairava – One who attracts wealth
There are two places named aduthurai near Kumbakonam – One is Vadakurangaduthurai and the other is Tenkurangaduthurai. Both of them have two ancient Shiva temples.
This article is about Tenkurangaduthurai Shiva temple which is 3 Kms from Tiruvidaimaruthur and 13 kms from Kumbakonam. The temple is more than 1000 year old self manifested Shiva Linga known as Abathsahayeshwar (meaning – “The Lord who helps one in danger”).
History:
There are numerous inscriptions in this temple about the donations and the work done by kings including the Chola Kings.
Highlights:
- Swarna Akarshana Bhairava ( meaning: Bhairava who attracts Gold (wealth) : This shrine is supposed to have been built by sage Agastya. Devotees offer their prayers here to get rid of their financial problems.
