Suvarnaganesha – Diveagar Ganesha temple

Location:- Diveagar is located in the Shrivardhan Taluka, Raigad district of Maharashtra. During the reign of the Shilahara dynasty, Dievagar was a and a very rich town. This is an ancient town and has been invaded upon many times.
Main Deity:- The main deity at this temple is Lord Ganesha.

The story of this temple states that in 1998 on Sankasti Chaturthi day,Draupadi Patil, a local farmer, discovered a copper box while ploughing her fields. This was a heavy box burried underneath muddy ground. This box had old sanskrit verses on it. Upon opening the box, people found a Ganesh idol with a mask made of Solid Gold along with some ornaments. This idol is dated to be about 3000 to 4000 years old.

The idol was installed at the temple and called Suvarnaganesh (Golden Ganesha). Unfortunately, in 2012 this idol was stolen and later replaced by a silver one.

Specialties:- This temple is constructed near the sea shore among the coconut and beetle nut trees.

Diveagar is a popular beach destination and is famous during crabs and turtle hatching season.

Devotees pray at this temple to remove obstacles in work or business. Lord ganesha also provides energy and wisdom to those who seek him.

Temple timings:- 9:30 am to 1:30 pm and 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm

By Road:- Diveagar is about an hours drive from Mangaon (40 km) on the NH 17. It is about 4 to 5 hours drive from Pune and Mumbai.
By Train:- Nearest railway station is Mangaon
By Air:- nearest airport is Mumbai.
