Tirupulivanam Vygrapureeshwarar Shiva temple

The deity here is a svayambu Murthi and is called Vygrapureeshwarar. Vyagram means Tiger in Sansrit and Puli in Tamil. Hence this place gets its name Thiru-puli-Vanam.

Specialties:
1. Here Dakshinamoorthy has got 6 disciples instead of the usual 4. A lion can also be seen seated near him.
2. Ashta Buja Durga with 8 hands which is very rarely seen in temples.

3. On the outer prahara, it is said the Maha Samadhi of Vyagrapathar is there. But there are several temples which mention the samadhi of this saint. So, nobody is sure on which is the correct place.

This Shiva temple needs definite maintenance and support. It is in such a bad shape. It is enroute from Vandavasi to Kanchipuram, 5 Kms from   Uthiramerur
